This atmospheric portrait, Little trumpet Clarinet, evokes the soulful, mellow timbre of this woodwind instrument in the hands of his master, so called as the term may have been derived from the Italian for trumpet. The image captures both the detail of the silver keys against the dark of the polished black body of the instrument, and the dextrous hands of the clarinettist, master of his instrument as they work skilfully together.
